The graphics card market is characterized not only by the rivalry between AMD and Nvidia but also by a few dominant partner manufacturers. Taiwanese giants Asus, Gigabyte and MSI steal the most attention, but there are two more and all the more low-key industrial giants.
Now the industry magazine Digitimes reports that Colorful is already past MSI and Gigabyte. The forecast is that the Chinese upstart will also pass Asus for the full year 2015, which means that Colorful will be the world’s second largest manufacturer of graphics cards. The relatively unknown company is estimated to have a production capacity of approximately 500,000 graphics cards per month.
Unlike Taiwanese, Colorful focuses almost exclusively on the domestic Chinese market, where the worst competitors are Galaxy and Zotac. The relatively unknown graphics card giant is expected to reach up to 5 million delivered copies in 2015.
The world’s largest graphics card manufacturer, on the other hand, is Palit Microsystems with brands such as Galaxy, Gainward and Point of View.
