The newly launched The Witcher 3 may well be suitable for nominations as this year’s most anticipated and demanding game, where the latter annoys Nvidia users with older graphics cards from the Geforce GTX 600 and 700 series. This has led Nvidia to promise improvements with new drivers, but before that, the developers behind the game release a patch with, among other things, performance optimizations.
One of the big performance thieves in The Witcher 3 is Nvidia Hairworks, which, unlike AMD’s counterpart TressFX, is used to simulate realistic hair and fur. For this feature, further performance improvements are promised with the new Patch 1.04, and users in need of additional frames can probably continue to experiment with the amount of tessellation in the drivers.
Another change is the textures. Here, improved rendering quality is promised with preset High and Ultra, but whether this also means any changes in performance is not clear.
