Cryorig H5 – Conseil Config: Review| Specs| Test| Hashrate |Price On Amazon| Pros & Cons| CPU Performance| Config | Advantage (Pros) and Disadvantages (Cons) and other important features that will help you make better decision.

The tests of Cryorig products follow one another, after the very good C1 and R1 Universal I am going to try to test for you a more classic fan in tower format and equipped with a 14cm fan, I named the H5! Who says Cryorig usually says high-end finish, packaging and bundle worthy of Noctua and also high price, well this is not the case for the latter because it is announced at $ 46.99, so the price of a middle cooler range. Let’s see what the beast has in the belly!

Cryorig_H5_boite1
Cryorig_H5_boite2

The box of the H5 is in the image of Cryorig products, namely very classy and which gives the impression of a quality product, on the front side we find a photo of the product in profile with only the logo of the brand and the model. There is also a note on the 14cm fan in “slim” format, which is none other than the brand’s XT140, present in a large majority of their products.
At the rear, all the technical specifications are present, whether at the level of the cooler itself as well as of its fans and compatible sockets.

Cryorig_H5_boite4

On the side a quick presentation of the different strengths of the H5, namely a proprietary honeycomb structure supposed to increase cooling efficiency, full compatibility with memory modules as well as an installation as usual at Cryorig in less than 5mins.

Cryorig_H5_boite5

By opening the box we find a small message saying that we can take advantage of a 3-year warranty extension (plus the 3-year base) by registering the product on the Cryorig website which will give entitlement to VIP status with the extended warranty, “premium” technical support and access to prize draws. Speaking of VIP status, there is also a competition at the moment to win special editions open to all including a 24 carat gold plated specially reserved for “VIP”, more info here.

Cryorig_H5_boite6

In the box we find a packaging that looks like 2 drops of water to that of Noctua, namely the cooler well sandwiched in a box, the accessories are in the box on both sides.
In the end, the packaging of the H5 is really very good, as usual and has nothing to envy to other major high-end brands!

Cryorig_H5

And here is the beast! As usual with Cryorig we put a white plastic fairing and a black fan. Everything is not really small (14cm fan requires). The build quality is once again really top notch and has absolutely nothing to envy to the products of other major high-end brands. To summarize, he has a good face and is very well finished the little one!

Cryorig_H5_front

From the front we can clearly see that the 14cm fan covers the entire cooler, fan with the Cryorig logo in its center and which is, as usual, equipped with rubber pads on both sides to prevent vibrations from being transmitted to the radiator.

Cryorig_H5_in front_without_ventilator

Under the fan the famous honeycomb structure supposed to improve the efficiency of the air flow, I do not know if this will do its job but in any case it looks good.

Cryorig_H5_cote

On the side the finish is once again very good, the fins (38 in number) are intermittently connected to each other in order to keep the air inside the radiator as much as possible.

Cryorig_H5_derriere

Nothing exceptional at the rear, everything is in place and no fins are twisted, which is once again a good sign 🙂

Cryorig_H5_above

Above the white cover with the Cryorig logo in its center, we like it or not, but it is sure that it will appeal when the H5 is installed in a configuration equipped with a side window. The 2 holes present give access to the fixing screws.

Cryorig_H5_plaque

No mirror finish here, we can see the machining marks, but that shouldn’t really have much of an impact on performance, we’ll see that later!

Cryorig_H5_bundle

The Cryorig H5 bundle consists of:

  • 1 installation manual
  • 1 Intel mounting plate
  • 1 AMD mounting plate
  • 2 additional clips for “slim” fan
  • 8 rubber pads for another fan
  • 1 tube of thermal paste
  • 1 Phillips screwdriver
  • 1 registration card for VIP status
  • 1 alcohol wipe
Read This Now:   Intel Arc, other than launch close: driver problems move the output?

The bundle is therefore extremely well supplied, there will be everything you need to mount the H5 and more, attachments for another “slim” fan, 1 tube of thermal paste and a screwdriver which will be almost essential. as we will see later. Seeing all of this I can’t help but compare it to a bundle from Noctua, and that’s a pretty good sign!

Cryorig makes it a point of honor to make its coolers compatible with a large majority of sockets on the market (even the old Socket 775 is available) as well as with all memory modules, in fact there is no size limit because the H5 just doesn’t interfere (we’ll see that below!).
The weight of the H5 is rather contained with its 853g fan included (764g without), in terms of dimensions it will take 16cm in height for 14.3cm in width and a small 9.8cm in depth, there may be a compatibility problem with the first PCIe port.

Composed of 38 aluminum fins separated from each other by 2.8mm, the dissipation surface is decent, without being huge. The 4 6mm thick copper callpipes are responsible for evacuating the heat in these expensive little fins, a number which is not huge either but which should be sufficient to cool a very large majority of processors.
The 1.3cm thick “slim” XT140 fan rotates between 700 and 1300 RPM for a noise ranging from 20 to 24dB, enough to cool the little monster.

The recommended price is $ 46.99, which puts the H5 in the mid-range, but with such a good finish it might hurt (when it becomes available in the French market), let’s not forget the 3 guarantee. years (+ 3 years once registered on the site) which in no way taints the picture.

On the box is the very fast assembly of the Cryorig, so this is what I will detail here and give my opinion on the ease and speed of it, let’s go!

Cryorig_H5_montage1

First of all you have to take the plate corresponding to the socket used, the Intel plate in my case and set to A (socket 1366), B (socket 115x) or C (socket 775), no screws to put in place or whatever whether it is here, all you have to do is push the small slider, you save a little time and it’s very practical.

Cryorig_H5_ Montage2

You must then place the plate behind the motherboard.

Cryorig_H5_ Montage3

Once placed it is necessary to screw the spacers on the 4 screws.

Cryorig_H5_montage4

The 2 heatsink mounting plates are then placed on these spacers, 2 directions are possible, depending on the desired orientation.

Cryorig_H5_montage5

Once the plates are in place, all you have to do is fix them using the 4 hand nuts provided.

Cryorig_H5_montage6

Don’t forget the small dose of thermal paste on the processor. We’re almost at the end!

Cryorig_H5_ Montage7

Now you have to put the cooler on the processor, and screw with the screwdriver provided, here is the H5 is installed!
I want to say that the installation in 5 minutes announced on the box was not a lie, the assembly is really very simple and very fast!

Memory / PCIE compatibility

As usual the choice of a cooler is always linked to the choice of memory and motherboard, let’s see what the Cryorig H5 has to say on this level:

Cryorig_H5_memoire_clearance1
Cryorig_H5_memoire_clearance2

Nothing to say here, the space is large, it might even have been possible to install a classic 2.5cm fan without interfering in any way with the memory modules.

Cryorig_H5_pcie_clearance

There on the other hand, and for a very large majority of coolers with a 14cm fan the space is really too tight, the smallest screw that would come out on the back of the graphics card would risk touching the H5, the first PCIe slot if it is in 16x is therefore doomed for graphics cards.

The test platform

The Cryorig H5 has been tested on the configuration below:

  • Processor : Intel Core i7 875K @ 3.2 Ghz
  • Motherboard : Asus P7P55D
  • Mémoire: Kingston HyperX 4 x 2 Go 1600Mhz
  • Disque dur: WD Raptor 150 Go
  • Graphics card : Sapphire Toxic 5850
  • Power supply : Seasonic X650

The test protocol

The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk (still an average of the 4 cores).

The cooler has been tested against:

  • be quiet! Pure Rock (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 (tested here)
  • Cooler Master Hyper 612S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U12S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U14S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-D15 (tested here)
  • SilentiumPC Fera 2 HE 1224 v2 (tested here)

The temperatures

Cryorig_H5_results_temperatures

Let’s get right to the heart of the matter, the temperatures! The Cryorig H5 is doing very well here and does not have to be ashamed of high-end and more expensive solutions. Indeed with a maximum of 56 ° in 5V for 51 ° in 12V it manages the Core i7 875K very easily. It even has the luxury of doing better than a Noctua NH-U12S (even if it is smaller) or a be quiet! Dark Rock 3 in 5V, which is really no small thing!
To summarize, and without taking into account noise pollution, the Cryorig H5 is in no way unworthy, especially with its mid-range price placement, let’s see now how it takes care of our ears.

Noise pollution

Warning: Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings The measurements below are only indicative! The readings were taken 15cm from the cooler.

Cryorig_H5_resultats_nuisances_sonores

Here also the Cryorig H5 is rather good, even if this time it does not reach the level of the high-end solutions of the comparison, in 5V it will be very discreet with its 32 dB, once connected in PWM it is mounted at 39 dB and in 12V we reach 43 dB. In 5V we can hear a small clicking noise coming from its XP140 fan, which is unfortunately the case for many coolers (especially in entry and mid-range), in 12V on the other hand the clicking disappears but the noise of the air flow is clearly heard. The setting with the best performance / noise ratio is once again the PWM which will be automatically managed by the motherboard.

Cryorig_H5_featured

Here we are at the end of this test, what to say about Cryorig H5?
First of all, the build quality is simply excellent, Cryorig demonstrates very good know-how, even on a mid-range oriented product, nothing has been left to chance or even sloppy!
The bundle is very well supplied as usual. The design is also another good point for the H5 which will delight fans of white, especially those who have a case with a window! Cryorig also didn’t lie about the assembly time which really takes less than 5 minutes, truly one of the best cooling systems on the market.
In terms of performance, the Cryorig H5 also responds by placing itself very well in the comparison whether in 5V or 12V, and for good reason the 14cm fan blows hard and will not be discreet in load.

Offered at a recommended price of $ 46.99 there is no doubt that it is a relevant choice for anyone looking for a mid-range cooler for a gamer config, especially if the latter is equipped with a window!

Advantages

  • Design
  • Build quality
  • Very easy to assemble
  • Bundle
  • Performances
  • Memory compatibility

Disadvantages

  • Noise at full speed
  • First PCIe slot compatibility

A big thank you to Cryorig who allowed me to do this test.
