Deloitte will allow employees to pay for their lunch in Bitcoin

The Luxembourg branch of the consulting firm Deloitte will allow its employees to use bitcoin (BTC) to pay for lunch at canteens.

The news was reported by the Luxembourg Times and indicates that it is an experiment by Deloitte to see how cryptocurrencies could be used. The first step is to allow employees to pay lunch with Bitcoin using a simple mobile application.

Laurent Collet, partner in the finance and corporate strategy department at Deloitte Luxembourg, said:

“We think it is good for our employees to evaluate this new technology.”

Therefore, the Deloitte experiment will be internally and on a small scale.

However, the company does not intend to allow customers to pay bitcoin in the near future, Collet added.

Instead, the Luxembourg branch of PwC, the historical rival of Deloitte, will accept bitcoin payments from its customers from early October.

The Big Four auditor studies blockchain and cryptocurrencies

Deloitte has been experimenting with the use and study of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies for several years. The company has an internal blockchain team and has set up several research centers around the world.

Antonio Senatore, CTO of blockchain projects in Deloitte, revealed in May this year that they are preparing a comprehensive project based on Ethereum.

CTO Deloitte also made positive statements about VeChain, saying it is a good choice for many companies, given the large community and the well-structured ecosystem behind it.
