MOSCOW, 22 Sep — PRIME. The consequences of anti-Russian sanctions for Dutch households and companies could be very serious, said Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Austria says they will say a clear “no” to the idea of sanctions on Russian gas
Earlier, the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation (NOS) reported that Rutte, at a debate in the country’s House of Representatives, recognized the seriousness of the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions for Dutch households and companies.
However, according to him, “this is not a reason to stop supporting sanctions in order to get Russian gas.”
The Netherlands has the highest gas price in Europe: the Dutch pay about 28 cents per kilowatt-hour, or 2.76 euros per cubic meter of gas.
According to media reports, a number of the country’s city councils have asked the government to temporarily exempt them from EU sanctions against Russia due to difficulties in finding alternatives to Russian energy sources.
