EBSI: Belgium deploys its first blockchain node

In the project context European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI), the Belgium set up his first blockchain node.

In 2018, around twenty member states, including France and Belgium, signed a blockchain partnership with the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP). This fall, the EBP association and the European Commission jointly launched a first initiative called European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI) which aims to provide a blockchain infrastructure to host European public services.

According to BrusselsTimes, February 12, 2020, the Belgium put into service its first knot on this famous new infrastructure blockchain European and plans to deploy a second in the coming weeks.

Two local companies who are used to working with Belgian public services, the internet service provider Belnet and the software company Smals, participated in the installation of the first node.

The infrastructure will include a network of interconnected nodes and particular attention will be paid to cybersecurity while respecting privacy, "said the two Belgian companies.

At national level, each Member State will be responsible for the operation of the nodes on its territory. The European Commission plans to develop applications designed to standardize interactions with and between national and European administrations.
