El Intel Core i9-12900KS a 5,5 GHz destrona al AMD Ryzen 9 5950X en el benchmark Cinebench

Last Thursday, user Seby9123 shared on Reddit who managed to gain access to a Intel Core i9-12900KSshowing photos of the processor and also sharing the results of the benchmarks on Cinebench R23. Intel’s top of the range manages to outperform the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and even the i9-12900K itself.

It should be noted that the system used for the tests is based on an ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 APEX motherboard, with 32 GB DDR5 at 6200 MHz and CL36. Unfortunately, we do not know the details of which cooling system was used, but we do know from the images that the tests were carried out by Cinebench R23.

The user tested the processor in three different tests. First of all, he tested the stock CPU, without any changes or overclocking. The score obtained was 29164 for multicore performance and 2162 for single core performance. During the test, two of the P cores ran at 5.5 GHz while the others stayed at 5.2 GHz. Even the efficiency cores, they kept running at 4.0 GHz during this benchmark.

In the second test, the user overclocked the processor by leaving all performance cores running at 5.4 GHz, while setting the E cores to run at 4.2 GHz. 30,000 points, reaching 20902 in multicore performance.

This overclocking came at a cost, as the processor consumed 319 watts and reached temperatures very close to 100 degrees Celsius. Bearing in mind that we don’t know how the system was cooled.

The third is the definitive one, the Core i9-12900KS is close to the Ryzen 9 5950X

Finally, the user performed an interesting test. It disabled the efficiency cores and overclocked the P cores to 5.3 GHz. In this scenario, the 8 cores and 16 threads of the Intel Core i9-12900KS came to a multi-threaded performance result very close to the rival AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, as all its 12 cores and 24 threads. Here’s a chart from WCCFTech showing the multicore results:

As can be seen from the benchmarks, the Intel Core i9-12900KS is not only 6% faster than the stock 12900K, but it crushes the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with an advantage of up to 14%. And that’s just the multi-threaded performance, which is the strong point of Zen 3.

In single threaded performance, the Intel chip is 35% faster, which is very impressive and will help Intel stay ahead when it comes to gaming, even when the 5800X3D launches. Now the KS costs extra over the standard K variant and also consumes more power, but it’s geared towards enthusiasts who want the fastest processor they can get their hands on.

It is interesting to know that the top of the range of Intel exceeds the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, and without a doubt, this makes it clear that so far, the Intel Core i9-12900KS is the most powerful what is on the market.

And you, what do you think of the Intel Core i9-12900KS? Powerful, isn’t it?
