Foreign Ministry says Russia ready for joint investigation of gas leak

MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. Russia will consider requests for a joint investigation with European countries into the causes of the Nord Stream accident, if any, while they were not there, said the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

Experts said that the emergency at Nord Stream does not threaten the environment

“If there are any appeals, we will consider them. So far, there have been no such requests, as far as I know,” said the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

So Grushko answered the question about the possible cooperation of the Russian side with the European Union in the investigation of incidents on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

On Monday, Nord Stream 2 AG reported that on one of the lines of Nord Stream 2 (it was filled with technical gas after construction), an emergency occurred in Danish waters near the island of Bornholm, accompanied by a sharp drop in pressure. The reasons are unknown, an investigation is underway, the company specified. Then, for unknown reasons, Nord Stream AG, the operator of Nord Stream, also reported a decrease in pressure on both strings.
