Former Razer designer creates a gaming accessory that promises to replace the keyboard in games

Edward Larkin is a designer who has worked for companies like Razer, and now your company PLA Labs wants to rethink the way gaming accessories work. The company’s first work is the Alt Motion Controller, a device with an unusual shape that is intended to be a good substitute for keyboards with a conventional design.

The device has an unusual look, combining three analog sticks similar to a traditional gamepad. According to the developers, all three can be used at the same time and configured to work with any PC command. To demonstrate how it works, PLA Labs released a video showing that Doom Eternal is completely controlled by the device.

Devices with unusual formats that are intended to replace traditional accessories in PCs are nothing new, and many of them fail precisely because of the difficulty they have to adapt to them. According to Larkin, this is not a problem with the Alt Motion Controller, stating that a new user can fully master how the product works in 15-24 hours of use.

Larkin explains that one of the reasons the accessory is relatively easy to master is that you don’t have to move your hand to use it. PLA Labs’ goal is to bring the device to market in 2022, with a introductory price of $250, that is the price that a good keyboard and mouse combo would have, TOP OF THE RANGE.

The company claims that the main advantage of this device is that it does not require repositioning the wrist to use it. On their official website they state that having to move your fingers hundreds of times an hour is a “Stone Age” thing and represents an “archaic way of playing any modern FPS or action game”.

While a release date has yet to be set, the manufacturer says it intends to start accepting pre-orders starting in March of this year. The company promises to share more news about the device soon and, for that, it opened the subscriptions to your email listwho registers automatically participates in a raffle for an Alt Motion Controller.
