France proposes to shorten the heating season by a month

PARIS, 6 Oct – PRIME. Minister Delegate for Cities and Housing in the French Government Olivier Klein has proposed to reduce the heating season in the country by a month in order to save electricity, BFMTV reports.

Media: a group of countries proposed the EU to introduce a price corridor for all gas imports
Klein reportedly suggested starting the heating season in France on November 1 instead of October 15 and ending on April 1 instead of April 15.
“Reducing (the heating season) by a month will allow us to save 12% of energy,” said the Minister Delegate.
On Thursday, the French government unveiled an “energy sobriety” plan – specific measures to reduce the country’s electricity consumption by 10% to avoid a shortage in the coming winter. The government has previously called on all businesses and transport companies to submit concrete steps to reduce energy consumption.
The French authorities also ordered to maintain the temperature in the premises no higher than 19 degrees, the illumination of a number of administrative buildings and museums will continue to turn off after 22 hours.
