PRAGUE, 26 you — PRIME. Gas reserves in Czech underground storage on Monday exceeded the mark of three billion cubic meters, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Josef Sikela, said on Twitter.
“Today, gas reserves in our storage facilities have exceeded 3 billion cubic meters. For comparison, last year the maximum level of reserves was 2.818 billion cubic meters. Energy savings also contribute to this (increase in reserves). Although the current temperature indicators are now lower than last year, gas consumption has not increased Thank you all for this,” Sikela wrote.
Annual gas consumption in the Czech Republic is about 9 billion cubic meters. In September, a terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) was added as a new “source” of this type of fuel off the coast of the Netherlands, near the city of Eemshaven, in which the Czech Republic leased a third of the volume for 10 years, which is 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year. On September 19, a US tanker delivered the first 100 million cubic meters of LNG for the Czech Republic. Until the end of 2022, 7 more such deliveries are expected. Earlier, Sikela told reporters that agreements had already been reached on transporting gas from Eemshaven to the Czech Republic via European pipelines.
