Graphics card manufacturers are forced to lose older models due to overlays

Those who have been looking for a new graphics card for the past two years have had a hard time finding models with a good balance between price and performance. This is partly due to the fact that prices rose sharply as a result of the then rapidly growing miningtrend, which reached its peak in 2018.

Since then, however, the curve for breaking cryptocurrencies has been steadily declining, which has led manufacturers to sit on tops of older models that they have found difficult to sell. According to the industry magazine Digitimes, several manufacturers are starting to lower the prices of older graphics cards and sell them at a loss, to get rid of the previous generation of models.

It is reported that they have already begun to see the effects of the price reductions and that demand for the models has increased recently. Both the Radeon RX 580 from AMD and the Geforce GTX 1060 as well as the GTX 1070 from Nvidia have reportedly dropped in price considerably and campaigns on these may continue as long as until mid-2019.
