The Hedera Hashgraph platform announced the launch of a public beta of its blockchain. The developers claim that the network is faster than Ethereum and Bitcoin.
Previously, blockchain testing took place in a closed beta mode, available only to some developers. The Hedera team said that the network can support up to 10,000 transactions per second, while Ethereum only supports 15 and Bitcoin 2.8.
Hedera also offers smart contracts and file services, whose bandwidth is currently limited to 10 transactions per second. At the same time, the platform plans to gradually increase speed in the remaining period of 2019.
Among the 26 decentralized applications that will be launched on the Hedera network, the AdsDax decentralized advertising platform, the creators of which claim to have completed more than 2 million transactions in 10 days.
Startup Chainlink will provide Hedera-based applications with “reliable oracles” and the ability to connect to offline data, and pharmaceutical consulting company Certara will provide access to “advanced analytics and health-related transaction data.”
“Today, we encourage developers around the world to create decentralized applications on our platform. Thanks to open access, our board members have also started launching nodes, ”said Hedera co-founder Leemon Baird.
Note that the technology giant IBM and the Indian telecommunications company Tata Communications recently joined the board of the decentralized Hedera platform.
