How to play videos on YouTube – Easy Steps

How to play videos on YouTube

YouTube is not a music service like Spotify and Pandora are. Most if not all music videos by all artists are posted on YouTube and the songs tend to get stuck in your head. Many people end up listening to something looped for hours. A few years ago if you wanted to play videos on YouTube you had to use a plugin or extension on the desktop and for mobile apps a completely different app.

Play videos on YouTube

Now it’s easy to play YouTube videos because the options are built into both the desktop website and the mobile apps. YouTube’s website has had it for quite some time, but mobile apps have added it recently.

1. Play videos on YouTube: browser

To play a video on the YouTube desktop website,

  1. Open your browser and visit YouTube.
  2. Play the video you want to play.
  3. Right click on the player once.
  4. Right click a second time.
  5. Select Loop from the menu.
  6. The video will loop until you stop it.
  7. To stop looping the video, you can refresh the page or deselect the looping option from the same context menu.

Note: Sometimes the right mouse button context menu does not appear, that is, you will not get the menu with the loop option. Try right clicking again and it should be there.

2. Play YouTube Videos – iOS / Android

To play YouTube videos on the iOS or Android application;

  1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Select a video to play.
  3. Tap the more options button at the top right of the video player (appears if the video controls are visible).
  4. Select the Loop option from the menu.
  5. The video will now loop.
  6. To turn it off, deselect the Loop option from the same menu.

conclusion

When you play videos on YouTube, they are reloaded every time the video is played. You are not saving bandwidth when you loop. In fact, when you play a video on your phone and you have a data plan, it will consume considerable bandwidth. It might be better to choose a subscription to Spotify or Pandora; It only wastes bandwidth on an audio stream and not on the video stream. That said, YouTube is also home to harder-to-find, darker niche videos that you won’t find anywhere else. It may cost more bandwidth to watch a looping video, but if the video can only be found on YouTube, then there isn’t exactly an alternative.
