How to play Bayonetta on Linux
Bayonetta is a series of hack and slash video games developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega. Here’s how you can make Bayonetta work on your Linux PC.
Make Bayonetta work on Linux
Bayonetta is a game for Microsoft Windows. However, it can work reasonably well on Linux with the help of Steam. That being said, Steam does not come pre-installed on any Linux operating system. So if you want to use it, you will have to install it by hand.
Instalar Steam
In order for Steam to work on your Linux computer, you will need a terminal window. You can open a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. Alternatively, start the application by searching for “Terminal” in the application menu.
With the terminal window open, you can begin the installation. Follow the installation instructions below that correspond to the Linux operating system you are using.
Ubuntu
To get Steam to work on your Ubuntu system, use the apt install command below.
sudo apt install steam
Debian
If you are using Debian, you will have to download Steam to your computer from the official Steam website. To do that, use the following wget download command.
wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb
Installation can begin after downloading the latest Steam DEB package on your Debian computer. Using the dpkg comando, configure Steam.
sudo dpkg -i steam.deb
With the Steam DEB package configured, you will need to correct any dependency errors during the installation process. To do that, use the apt-get install -f command.
sudo apt-get install -f
Arch Linux
On Arch Linux, the Steam application can only be installed if the “multilib” software repository is enabled. To enable this repository, open the /etc/pacman.conf
file in your favorite text editor (as root).
Once the text file is open as root, locate the “multilib” software repository and remove the # symbol. Then remove the # symbol from the lines directly below it. After editing, save your edits and run the following pacman command below.
sudo pacman -Syy
Finally, install the latest version of Steam on your Arch Linux system by running the pacman -S command.
sudo pacman -S steam
Fedora / OpenSUSE
If you are on Fedora Linux or OpenSUSE, you can get the latest version of Steam out of the box using the software tools included with your operating system. However, the Flatpak version on Steam works much better, so we suggest following those instructions.
Flatpak
Steam can be easily installed through Flatpak. Follow our detailed guide to setting the latest Flatpak runtime to get started. After setting the runtime on your computer, enter the two commands below to get Steam working.
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
