How to prevent printer ink from drying out

Except in very specific circumstances, no one uses the ink cartridges of their jet printer in such a continuous way that they run out before it dries. Most likely, you will use the printer a few days later in the month. There may even be a month that you have no need to use it. In this aspect, the laser printers they are clearly superior to those of inkjet, since we can leave the toner indefinitely in its drum, without fear of it drying out.

True, you can always buy compatible cartridges with your printer but, even so, it is quite annoying to have to throw an ink cartridge that has practically not been used. Because, when the ink dries, it's not just that it dries. Also the ink nozzles that are in the cartridge itself are often stuck, and cleaning them is not a very simple task for the user, many times. Not to mention that there are manufacturers that can make your printer no longer compatible with compatible cartridges, overnight.

Leaving printer ink in your fridge is the solution to these problems

The procedure that we are going to describe to you is the best for prevent the printer ink from drying out. It is a very simple procedure to follow for any user.

The first thing we will do is remove the cartridge of our printer and clean your injectors with a wet absorbent paper. It is important that it is only wet, not soaked with water.

When we have them clean, we will look for a plastic bag of a size not very large. And, if it is a bag that can be closed with snap closure, much better. In this regard, the freezer bags sold in some commercial areas and supermarkets will serve you perfectly.

Now, we will put the ink cartridge of the printer inside the plastic bag and place a piece of wet paper on top of the injectors, securing it with heat paper.

We can't just use the heat, because the adhesive you use could get into the injectors of the cartridge, which would spoil our plan to keep the ink cartridge in good condition.

Now we will proceed to put the ink cartridge inside the bag that we mentioned previously and we will keep everything inside our fridge.

It is VERY important that the cartridge be stored in such a position that it allows the injectors they are face up, to avoid spilling ink or, in the case of cartridges with several inks, that these are mixed with each other.

When we want to use the printer, we must remove the cartridge some time before, with the aim that the ink temper a little before starting to print. And, before we start printing what we want to do, it's a good idea to make a test print, to make sure that the cartridge works correctly.

We can also leave the cartridge at room temperature

If you do not want to leave your printer ink cartridges inside your fridge, or you are one of those who need to start printing immediately and cannot wait for the ink to temper, there is also another method to prevent the ink from drying out.

The procedure is similar to the one we just saw to the point of storing the ink cartridge in the bag. However, on that occasion what we will do is take out all the air possible of the bag and close it tightly, since what we are looking for is that the moisture cannot escape from inside the cartridge and is contained in the bag.

The cartridge We will keep it in a closed place and protected from sunlight. And, just like when we have stored it in the fridge, we will make sure that the cartridge is with the injectors facing up, for the same reasons we have mentioned before.

With this second method, something we should do is check, every week, that the wet paper We have used to seal the injectors and keep the ink inside them moist, still wet. In case it has dried, we must replace the original with another wet paper.
