Illegally connected mining farm in Ingushetia stole 130 million rubles of electricity

Specialists of the grid company IDGC of the North Caucasus revealed in Ingushetia the fact of theft by miners of electricity worth more than 130 million rubles.

According to the department of public relations of the network company, not far from the village of Plievo in the Nazran district of Ingushetia, IDGC of the North Caucasus security unit discovered an object on which two transformers were placed without technical authorization. These installations provided illegal power to a nearby building, inside of which over 1,600 cryptocurrency mining devices were discovered.

The situation is already being dealt with by law enforcement agencies, which will determine the degree of responsibility of the violator. He faces criminal liability for imprisonment of two to five years.

“Over the past six months, this is the most resonant case of theft of electricity from all those that were associated with cryptocurrency mining. Earlier, our employees, with the assistance of law enforcement agencies, revealed in Dagestan similar facts of theft of electricity by miners. We will continue to work in this direction, since such actions cause significant damage not only to power engineers, ”said Alim Kokov, Deputy General Director for Security of the network company.
