Intel confirmed that it remains determined to bring new processors on an annual basis, at least until 2025. In an investor meeting, the company confirmed that it is already working on the lines Raptor Lake, Meteor Lake, Arrow Lake y Lunar Lakewhich are expected to combine improved performance with better energy efficiency.
To achieve its goals, the manufacturer claims that it is already working on new processes to manufacture and package the next generations of CPUs. The promise is that the hybrid design philosophy seen in the 12th Gen Intel Core lineup will be expanded and refined, which should result in more cores and performance gains.
24 cores (8+16) with 32 threads by 2022
The company’s next big thing is the Raptor Lake line, which will hit stores in 2022. The processors should be made with Intel 7 and should have up to 24 cores (8+16) with 32 threads, advanced overclocking capabilities and compatibility. with the LGA 1700 socket already used by the Alder Lake line.
The 13th generation of processors should also bring an artificial intelligence module that automatically detects the presence of PCIe Gen 5 SSDs in the system. The chip will be responsible for upgrading the M.2 connection protocol to the latest standard, resulting in immediate read and write speed gains.
In 2023 we will have Intel CPUs with artificial intelligence
By 2023, Intel promises to launch the Meteor Lake line, built on the Intel 4 process and based on a new flexible tile architecture. Betting again on a hybrid core format, the manufacturer promises the integration of artificial intelligence acceleration and a new generation of graphics engine known as tGPU, based on Arc technology.
According to Intel, the Meteor Lake processors will use the Battlemage DG3 graphics architecture, which allows you to reconcile visual gains with a decrease in power consumption. This will also ensure that the chips can work with technologies like DirectX 12 Ultimate and Intel XeSS, technologies currently restricted to dedicated Arc Alchemist graphics cards.
By 2024 the 40 cores arrive
Arrow Lake CPUs, which are expected to arrive from 2024 and bring several changes, including the use of new Lion Cove and Skymont cores, bringing their total capacity up to 40 cores (8 P-Core and 32 E-Core). Producers are expected to be produced in the Intel 20A format, which promises performance increases of up to 15% per watt.
Intel has reserved for 2025 the launch of the Lunar Lake line, manufactured using the 18A process. The company promises it will lead the market in performance per watt, with gains of up to 10% over Arrow Lake CPUs. The company intends to do the first tests later this year and says it will be ready to take it to its production lines in the second half of 2024.
