Intel Core i5-9600KF Processor

Intel Core i5-9600KF Processor: Overview / is it good for gaming / Benchmark/ Overclocking/ Specification (Specs) – In October 2019, we found out that AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is the best processor in the category “under 15000 rubles”. This product has few competitors, the most obvious is the Core i5-9600K (it costs more in stores), but we got another curious option called the Core i5-9600KF. We’ll talk about him today.

Core i5-9600KF Processor Review

In gaming tasks, the Core i5-9600KF is better than the Ryzen 5 3600X.

Almost certainly, you have already figured out the new letter designations that appeared in the names of processors from Intel in 2019. “K” means a free multiplier, “F” means no integrated graphics. On the market, you can find CPUs with one of these letters in the name, with two or none at all.

The Intel Core i5 9600k Review: Benchmark ( Is it good for gaming?)

With Intel struggling to produce high end chips my only option was the Core i5 9600k and we quickly find it’s a terrible value vs the Ryzen 5 2600 and barely justifies even existing

The KF options are, in our opinion, the most interesting (from the point of view of the end user). Why? First, such devices can be overclocked; secondly, due to the lack of an integrated video cards in retail, they are cheaper (than modifications with a low-power graphics core from Intel).

Core i5-9600KF Processor: Specification (Specs)

The Core i5-9600KF processor is technically no different from the Core i5-9600K. The same six physical cores (and the same number of computational threads), the same cache size (9 MB), equal clock speeds (3700/4600 MHz) and TDP (95 W). The only difference, as already mentioned, is the missing Intel UHD Graphics 630 graphics, which is only in the Core i5-9600K asset.

Core i5-9600KF Processor: Specification (Specs)

In stores, the Core i5-9600KF costs about $30 cheaper than the Core i5-9600K. Both devices demonstrate the same performance in professional and multimedia applications, but we offer to study in detail the real potential of the processor version without integrated graphics (including overclockers).

The Core i5-9600KF is claimed to have a TDP of 95W, but the monitoring software (ASUS AI Suite 3) reported a lower value of 69W (nominal), the voltage did not rise above 1.048V. To cool this stone We used a rather powerful two-fan Gelid Phantom Black cooler. As a result, we did not see temperatures above 48 degrees (an open stand, no overclocking).

At 5000 MHz, the Core i5-9600KF was no longer so cold, but we’ll talk about that later.

Core i5-9600KF Processor: Performance and test results

So, in professional tasks, the Core i5-9600KF and Core i5-9600K processors show virtually equal results. Both overtake younger brother Core i5-9400F (we call it the best CPU in the category “under 10000 rubles”), but inferior to the Core i7-8700K (in our test it was replaced by the Core i7-8086K).

Ryzen 5 3600X is faster than the reviewed device. Stone from AMD copes with rendering, archiving and other profile calculations more quickly. Only in gaming applications, the Core i5-9600KF is a favorite, but the difference between the mentioned CPUs is minimal (in 4K and 1440p it is practically non-existent).

If you are planning to build a gaming PC with a monitor that supports only Full HD resolution, then the Core i5-9600KF is a better option than the Ryzen 5 3600X. In all other cases, it is worth choosing the CPU from AMD.

Core i5-9600KF: Overclocking

The Core i5-9600KF has trump (exactly like the Core i5-9600K), which the Ryzen 5 3600X does not have (we are talking about real overclocking using an open multiplier). And we can assume that it is he who is able to shift the scales towards the solution from Intel, not AMD (in terms of choosing a universal 6-core CPU).

Core i5-9600KF: Overclocking

Modification Core i5-9600KF offers 100% stable 5000 MHz on air, exactly like the Core i5-9600K. At this frequency, the monitored CPU emits 146 W of heat (voltage – 1.368 V) and heats up to 74 degrees under load (open bench, Cinebench R15 in a cycle).

The result opens up new perspectives on the professional field. At 5 GHz stone The Core i5-9600KF confidently competes with the Core i7-8700K (somewhere it even overtakes it, for example, in POV-Ray), but there is still no need to talk about an equal confrontation with the Ryzen 5 3600X in profile tasks.

Conclusion

Core i5-9600KF failed to be selected crown the Ryzen 5 3600X (the segment leader in the “under 15,000 rubles” category), however, the identical price of both solutions gives the end user the right to choose.

In stores, the Core i5-9600KF costs about 2,000 rubles cheaper than the Core i5-9600K.

In gaming tasks, the Core i5-9600KF is better than the Ryzen 5 3600X, but if we talk about gaming, then the most ideal product is the budget Core i5-9400F, which costs less than 10,000 rubles (it has the same six physical cores).

Ninth Gen Intel CPUs Missing Desktop stones with 12 computational threads, and AMD has such processors, and they are well-deservedly popular.

We just have to wait for Intel to release competitive products (this will happen in the first half of 2020). The tenth generation of Core will almost certainly offer us interesting mainstream CPUs, and then the confrontation between AMD and Intel will become as productive as possible. Keywords: intel
