A movie about John McAfee’s life will be produced next year. It is based on the article “John McAfee’s Last Stand”, published by the journalist Joshua Davis of Wired magazine.
The project has been in operation for several months, and filming will begin next year. McAfee announced on Twitter that his role will be played by Michael Keaton. Well-known actor Zach Efron will play investigator Ari Furman of Wired magazine.

Initially, the role of the investigator was planned to be played by Seth Rogen, but apparently the production company decided to replace him with Zach Efron.
The Life of John McAfee
The film’s producer is Charlie Gogolak, while the production companies behind the project are Condé Nast Entertainment, Zaftig Films, MadRiver Pictures and Epic Entertainment. The directors will be Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.
The writers of the script are Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, and the film focuses on Wired’s investigator, Ari Furman, played by Zac Efron. He accepts the mission to interview McAfee, but becomes involved in a crime investigation. Once Furman arrives in Belize, McAfee’s neighbor is killed.
Efron recently played the role of Ted Bundy in Netflix’s “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile”.
John McAfee is not directly involved in the production of the film because he is currently in exile.
Given the messages posted on Twitter, however, the pro-crypto lawyer is no stranger to the film’s project.
