Legendary 3dfx Interactive Voodoo can become a Lego model

It has been almost 18 years since Nvidia bought the remnants of the former graphics giant 3dfx, which shook the computer world considerably during the 90s. In 1996, 3dfx Interactive launched the Voodoo graphics card with the Glide interface, which offered 3D performance clearly higher than the competitors’ alternatives.

The graphics legend’s many and important graphics cards have over the years been hailed in many different ways, where SweClocker’s editorial staff talked about warm memories, while others chose to write books. On the web, another tribute to Voodoo is now lurking in a mixture of retro and Denmark, in the form of a Lego kit of the significant card.

This is currently not an existing product, but a product idea sent to Lego by retrofantasten “Bhaal_Spawn”. The company has a section where clever block builders can present proposals for kits, which other users can then show their interest in. If an idea reaches 10,000 followers, the idea is reviewed by experts at Lego, and then eventually becomes an actual kit.

The project was published on Lego’s website on March 24 and so far 1,496 have shown interest in the construction. Reaching the 10,000 limit is time-limited and 596 days remain, but at the 5,000 milestone, the end date is postponed by six months. “Bhaal_Spawn” also has a proposal for the sound card Sound Blaster Pro 2, but with 408 days to spare, only 623 people have backed the concept.

Like the original, the Lego vintage of Voodoo occupies an expansion space, where the green circuit board is equipped with graphics circuits, memory modules and other electronics-like details. Judging by the pictures, the Lego tribute is not entirely scalable, but of course the model is still equipped with VGA and PCI.
