Rivals IBM and Oracle are collaborating to facilitate interoperability between their own blockchains.

Oracle developers announced at the Arizona Global Hyperledger Forum that they are working on interoperability with the IBM blockchain.

The two IT giants concluded that companies using one of their blockchain solutions would be interested in being able to communicate with other networks.

“We have done full testing with IBM and SAP. Basically, the teams from the three companies carried out cross-network tests ”,

said Oracle’s product manager in an interview.

“So if someone comes and says they want to run a network on Oracle, but they have some members whose preference is to be on IBM, we can show them the process that is tested and certified.”

Basically, interoperability requires blockchain nodes to be deployed on both IBM cloud and Oracle. It also opens the door to connecting consortia of companies grouped on the two platforms.

Technical aspects include the exchange of information between networks in a format that the other party can digest.

“The long-term goal should be to create a simple user interface that you can click and configure. But for now, I have tested the manual connection and connection ”,

said the representative of Oracle.

For example, Oracle and IBM launched two massive consortia for the shipping industry – Global Shipping Business Business (GSBN) and TradeLens. Harmonizing these projects built on Hyperledger Fabric has enormous potential value for players in the industry.
