MOSCOW, 7 Sep — PRIME. The EU may unveil new measures to overcome the energy crisis next week, reports the Associated Press, citing European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson.
According to Simson, EU energy ministers will hold an extraordinary meeting on September 9 to discuss possible solutions to the problem of rising prices in the energy market.
“She said that the European Commission expects the package (decisions) to be adopted next Wednesday,” the agency said in a statement.
The package is expected to include measures to unbundle the prices of gas and other energy commodities, ensure liquidity in the markets, and coordinate demand reduction. Ministers can also agree to temporarily limit the price of gas used to generate electricity and change the rules for trading on exchange energy markets.
