MOSCOW, 26 Sep — PRIME. Germany intends to cap electricity prices this fall if this measure is not agreed at the European Union level, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing government sources.
Finland braces for power outages this winter
Germany is preparing to impose a cap on electricity prices in the country this fall if the EU fails to agree on a similar measure for the entire bloc.
It is noted that the German authorities plan to impose a tax on energy producers who charge users an amount higher than the established one. After that, the money received from the tax is planned to be sent to operators – companies that sell energy to end users – which will allow them to reduce prices.
