Moscow hopes that Moldova will fulfill its obligations under the gas contract
MOSCOW, 6 Sep — PRIME. Russia hopes that the Moldovan authorities will fulfill their obligations under the contract for the import of Russian gas in full and on time. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrey Rudenko in an interview with the RIA Novosti agency.
The diplomat also noted that JSC “Moldovagaz” received from the Russian side a delay in making an advance payment for the supply of energy carriers in August this year.
“We proceed from the fact that the Moldovan side will continue to fulfill its contractual obligations in full and on time,” Rudenko said.
The deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Moscow fulfills its obligations under the contract with Chisinau in full. He stressed that the issues of export deliveries of energy carriers to Moldova “are in a purely commercial plane.”
In October 2021, Chisinau signed a new contract for the supply of Russian gas with the exporter Gazprom. An obligatory condition of the contract was an audit of the Moldovagaz enterprise. However, the Moldovan authorities only in August 2022 signed an agreement to conduct an audit, this will be done by the Norwegian company Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma and the British structure Forensic Risk Alliance & Co. As Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu said last week, the country’s authorities do not have time to complete the audit of the debt of the Moldovagaz gas distribution company to the Russian exporter by October 1 and asked for a delay until the end of March next 2023.
