In connection with the first Dreamhack in Austin, Texas, Nvidia announced its new flagship Geforce GTX 1080 and sibling model GTX 1070. In addition to giving indications of performance, the company also announced prices in US dollars, where both models receive two price tags – one for the reference design “Founder’s Edition” and one for models from partner manufacturers, who can choose to slam into more potent coolers, more swollen circuit boards and factory overclocking.
model | Dollar | Swedish crowns |
---|---|---|
GTX 1080 Founder’s Edition | 699 USD | SEK 7,699 |
GTX 1080 (partnertillverkare) | 599 USD | ~ 6,600 kronor |
GTX 1070 Founder’s Edition | 449 USD | SEK 4,999 |
GTX 1070 (partnertillverkare) | 379 USD | ~ 4,200 kronor |
SweClockers has now obtained the official target prices for Nvidia’s new graphics card in reference version. For the Geforce GTX 1080, which starts sales on May 27 for 699 dollars, the Swedish price will be SEK 7,699 including VAT, while the GTX 1070, which will hit stores on June 10 for 449 dollars, will cost SEK 4,999 including VAT.
Exactly where the prices land for models from third-party manufacturers is not yet known. Based on the Swedish target prices for Founder’s Edition and a downward percentage adjustment, the cheapest Geforce GTX 1080 would go for around SEK 6,600. The sibling GTX 1070 can in turn be expected to land at SEK 4,200, at the same time as the performance will be above the exclusive GTX Titan X.
Limited availability at launch
Nvidia has promised a global sales launch of Geforce GTX 1080 on May 27, something that also includes Sweden. Now, however, retailers are warning that availability will initially be limited for the Founder’s Edition variant, something that is expected to be remedied in June when Nvidia’s partners launch their lower priced models.
