Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 – true successor to the popular GTX 1060

After a cavalcade of high-performance and expensive graphics cards, Nvidia has finally started to focus on lower price ranges. During the month of February, the Geforce GTX 1660 Ti was launched, which took the Turing architecture to the middle class, something that came at the expense of neither RT cores for ray tracing or Tensor cores for machine learning were available.

Now Nvidia is taking another step down the price ladder with the GTX 1660, which is intended to replace the GTX 1060 with 3 GB of GDDR5 graphics memory. To get there, Nvidia has scaled down the TU116 graphics circuit and replaced the GDDR6 memory with GDDR5, but with the same capacity as the GTX 1660 Ti. The question is whether this is enough to make it a worthy replacement for Nvidia’s best-selling midsize?
