After a long silence, things are starting to get serious for Geforce Kepler, the next generation of graphics cards from Nvidia. Previous information has spoken of a launch in the second half of March, after the industry fair Cebit 2012 but before the turn of the month in April.
Now several sources point it out 23 mars as the launch date, that is, in quite exactly three weeks. On the menu is most likely the graphics circuit GK104 in 28 nanometers, under the name Geforce GTX 670 Ti * or Geforce GTX 680. Under the shell, according to previous information, there are 1,536 CUDA cores and 2 GB GDDR5 memory.
Despite the fact that GK104 belongs to the middle class, according to preliminary information, it performs well. The graphics circuit is said to be “better than the Geforce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 7950”, and Italian Nvidia calls the model “unbeatable” in a message on Facebook.
* According to SweClocker’s sources, Nvidia has decided to use the name Geforce GTX 680 for the best performing graphics card based on GK104.
