According to rumors, Nvidia is releasing a bunch of new graphics cards. In addition to the first models with the Maxwell architecture, the successor to the worst Titan is introduced, which this time is upgraded with more activated calculation units and higher clock frequencies.

* Geforce GTX Titan Black and GTX Titan decrease in clock frequency to 677 MHz and 725 MHz respectively when 64-bit double precision operations are activated in the control panel.
The new Geforce GTX Titan Black is in many ways a Geforce GTX 780 Ti with doubled memory. That means 2,880 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. In comparison, the predecessor Titan stays at 2,688 computing units to the corresponding memory configuration.
The clock frequencies are also increased a notch and now amount to 889/980 MHz at base respective boost and 7.0 GHz GDDR5. The corresponding values for the predecessor Titan are 837/876 MHz and 6.08 GHz GDDR5. Despite more calculation units and higher clock frequencies, the TDP value of 250 W. is maintained.
Otherwise, the Geforce GTX Titan Black is very similar to the cousins in the series. It can be noted that the performance in double precision is higher than for other models in the Geforce family, which makes the graphics card a kind of “Tesla light”. On the outside, however, the only feature is a black anodized heat sink.
Geforce GTX Titan Black replaces its predecessor Titan and also enters the same price point with a recommended sales price of SEK 8,899 including VAT. The availability of the graphics card will at least initially be limited and in Sweden at the time of writing there are only a few dozen copies on store shelves.
Nvidia has chosen not to send out any test copies to reviewers but leaves this to the partner manufacturers. However, manufacturers are not particularly interested in marketing the graphics card as only reference designers (without logos, etc.) are allowed. SweClockers will test the model at a later time.
