Nvidia pauses sales of Founders Edition graphics cards in Europe

September kicked off with Nvidia’s presentation of the “Ampere” architecture and a trio of graphics cards for consumers, and at the time of writing, the two top models Geforce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 have visited SweClocker’s test lab. In addition to the sky-high performance levels, the rollout can perhaps best be described as a dance on Lego pieces, where problems with crashes have been on the agenda – problems that should now be solved through updated drivers.

The meager availability of graphics cards, on the other hand, is something that has not been addressed, and according to Nvidia, it will not be clear until next year. Until then, partner manufacturers will try to meet high consumer demand, and this without the support of Nvidia with Founders Edition cards. The Geforce forum announces that the company is backing away from its own sales.

Founders Edition units are limited, and more will be available in the coming weeks alongside an increasing supply of boards from our global board partners.

Nvidia’s representative believes that the decision to fimp its own online store comes as a result of the criticism that consumers have directed at it. In the US, the graphics giant is instead shifting responsibility for Founders Edition sales to the electronics chain Best Buy. For customers in Europe, there is still no alternative solution to the online store, which is why European customers cannot buy the model at all.

The forum post concludes with information that the availability of Founders Edition is limited, but that more cards from both Nvidia and the partner manufacturers will reach the store in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen if the company then found a solution to also reach customers outside the US with the innovative two-fan coolers. In the future, Nvidia will also reveal how long the temporary route via resellers is open, as well as when an improved online store will be completed.
