Nvidia prepares new Geforce with GK110

While Nvidia has already introduced a new series of graphics cards, the spotlight is now on AMD, which will roll out the next generation Radeon in the next few weeks. However, Nvidia is not on the lazy side but plans for both price reductions and new models.

First of all, the Geforce GTX 700 series will be supplemented with lower priced models, but now sources to SweClockers state that Nvidia also has a new graphics card based on the monster circuit GK110 on input.

Currently, scaled-down variants of the GK110 are used in the Geforce GTX 780 and Titan, which could mean that the new graphics card contains the full version of the circuit. However, such a graphics processor would be expensive and difficult to produce in sufficient quantities for a consumer class model.

Thus, it is all the more likely that the new GK110-based graphics card is more similar to today’s models with one or more SMX clusters disabled. It may be a variant of the Geforce GTX Titan with 3 GB of memory, not least because the prices of memory are still high, but also if a model is slightly below the GTX 780, where the performance gap to the GTX 770 is all the greater.

Nvidia is expected to present the new graphics card at a gaming event in Montreal, which kicks off on October 16-17.
