In connection with the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2017, Nvidia took the opportunity to show the new Geforce GTX 1080 Ti and a price adjustment of the GTX 1080. The company also had two other minor product innovations, where the GTX 1080 and also the GTX 1060 will go on sale as special overclocked variants .

* Nvidia’s award for Founder’s Edition. The lower price point is recommended for partner manufacturers’ custom graphics cards.
Judging by the presentation, the news for the new variants of Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 is that they get higher clocked graphics memory than before. In both cases, these are record-high frequencies with respective memory technology, where GTX 1080 OC has GDDR5X at 11 Gbps (11,000 MHz efficient) for 32 GB / s higher bandwidth.
The new Geforce GTX 1060 OC in turn gets GDDR5 at 9 Gbps (9,000 MHz efficient) for 24 GB / s higher memory bandwidth. This feat can be considered more impressive than GTX 1080 OC, as there is no GDDR5 memory that officially goes higher than 8 Gbps. The graphics memory is thus factory overclocked.
That Nvidia can achieve the higher clock frequencies is attributed to optimizations, but whether this is in the graphics circuits, circuit boards or both is not clear. Graphics cards with the higher clocked graphics memories must be available via partner manufacturers shortly at a price not yet known.
