MOSCOW, September 9 — PRIME. Poland called for the introduction by the European Union of a price limit for gas from all suppliers, and not just from Russia, said Anna Moskva, Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland.
Slovenia called for the introduction of a “ceiling” of prices not only for Russian gas
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has previously stated the need to introduce a price ceiling for Russian gas. At the end of August, she also announced that the EC is working on operational and longer-term measures to “improve the situation” in the face of rising electricity prices in the EU, which mainly depend on the cost of “blue fuel”.
“Today we will strongly support, despite the fact that today there will be only a discussion, there will be no vote, … the maximum price for each imported gas,” Moscow said upon arrival at a meeting of EU energy heads in Brussels.
According to her, the current prices for energy resources are unacceptable. Europe is now in dire need of a solution to protect citizens and businesses amid heavy dependence on imported gas, the minister stressed.
