Putin spoke about the repair of damaged threads of the Nord Stream

MOSCOW, 12 Oct — PRIME. The repair of the Nord Stream gas pipelines will only make sense if the pipeline continues to function and its safety is ensured, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the Russian Energy Week.

“This will only make sense if they continue to operate economically and, of course, while ensuring the safety of routes. These are paramount conditions,” he said.

The head of state expressed his regret over the fact that Russia was not allowed to inspect the surviving branch of the Nord Stream and said that the incidents on the gas pipelines are without a doubt acts of international terrorism.

The President stressed that the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 projects are purely commercial in nature and have no political overtones.

“This is a purely commercial project, in which Russian and European companies participate on an equal footing, which means that Russia and our partners in the EU countries should decide the fate of the “flows” jointly,” he added.

A gas leak on the strings of the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 was discovered on September 26 in the Baltic Sea. According to Swedish seismologists, powerful underwater explosions were recorded in the emergency area the day before. The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated the initiation of a case on an act of international terrorism.

Agence France Presse said, citing the Prime Minister of the Swedish transitional government, Magdalena Andersson, that Stockholm does not plan to allow Russia to investigate sabotage on gas pipelines.
