Radeon RX 6500 XT, AMD announces a new video card for gaming in Full HD: on board a 6-nanometer GPU | CES 2022

AMD introduced a new desktop video card, the Radeon RX 6500 XT. Long awaited thanks to the countless rumors, the new proposal comes with one Navi GPU 24 produced a 6 nanometers with 16 Compute Unit (and as many Ray Accelerators), for a total of 1024 stream processors, 16 MB of Infinity Cache and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps. The chip has a Game Clock of 2610 MHz but in Boost Clock it can go in boost to 2815 MHz. The 64-bit bus and the 107W TDP complete the card specifications.

It is a solution devoted to Full HD gaming with high details, which AMD believes can apply to substitute outdated models, but that still many have in their PCs, like the GeForce GTX 1650 o la Radeon RX 570. In a performance chart, the newcomer looks up to 60% faster than the GTX 1650 (in Resident Evil Village), but typically the improvement seems to be around 30-35%.

The newcomer will be available through partners from January 19 at a price of $ 199 tax free. As always, however, the shortage of the components could affect the real price and availability: we just have to wait for the debut to understand how the situation will evolve, but we do not have too many hopes.

Along with the Radeon RX 6500 XT, AMD also introduced the Radeon RX 6400, solution with slightly lower technical specifications (12 CU for 768 SP and 16 Gbps memory for a 53W TDP) and aimed only at OEM: we will see it on board the pre-assembled systems but not for direct sale.
