Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.4.1, here are the news of the new AMD drivers

AMD unveiled the new drivers Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.4.1, a release that introduces some Announcements compared to previous versions, especially from the point of view of control panel and features. The US company has revised the whole installation part by Radeon Software, giving users a greater degree of control over what they install.

There are three options available: driver installation only, a minimal and a complete installation. In addition to the driver, the minimal installation also includes the tool to report bugs, the user interface and the graphic and video settings; the complete one offers what has already been said in addition to panels to manage games and statistics, recording and streaming, overclocking and compatibility with AMD Link.

Another novelty concerns the possibility of intervene on the colors displayed on the screen for those with visual problems – protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia – along with a new “Vivid Games” profile to improve sharpness. These features require a Radeon RX 5000 or 6000 GPU, or Ryzen 4000 processors with Radeon graphics and newer with Windows 10.

AMD has also implemented one Wizard (requires Windows 10), that is a wizard, to allow newbies to launch into the world of registration video or streaming, which are now combined in a single panel.

The Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.4.1, in conjunction with the latest cards of the Radeon RX 6000 family (and Windows 10 with the KB5000842 update), introduce the Microsoft Playready AV1 support for accelerated decoding of DRM-protected AV1 content. AV1 is a royalty-free video codec that the industry will increasingly adopt over the next few years.

AMD added to the drivers, in the performance monitoring section, Ryzen CPU parameters (clock, voltages, temperature, use, fan speed, consumption) and improved the possibilities of intervention. Finally, here is AMD Crash Defender, a stability feature that allows systems to stay “active”, preserve data and recover completely from bocchi or cresha in some scenarios.

AMD Link 4.0

Last but not least news is AMD Link 4.0, the new version of the app that allows you to do it streaming games from your PC to your smartphone, table or TV. According to AMD, the pandemic has accelerated its spread and, last year alone, it was downloaded a million times.

The US company has revised the technology behind Link to ensure faster streaming (bit rate) and lower latency, in some cases up to 60% (CS: GO), and at the same time implemented it dynamic scaling which allows the content to automatically adapt to the available bandwidth. There are also new options, for example the support for 144 fps streaming and even 5.1 surround sound.

Another novelty is Link Game, a function that allows you to invite a friend to connect to your PC to play together or help you solve a problem. To conclude, AMD Link also arrives on Windows (it was already available on Android and iOS) with a new app, navigable with a gamepad and with an intuitive user interface. With this app, users can connect their gaming PC to another Windows PC – in addition to a smartphone, tablet or TV.
