MOSCOW, 14 Oct – PRIME. Europeans’ bills for gas and electricity should be sent to politicians who advocated giving up Russian resources. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak, commenting on the proposal of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to send invoices to Moscow, RBC reports.
The EC announced plans to empower EU prosecutors to fight sanctions circumvention
Earlier in September, the French MEP Manon Aubrey, criticizing the European authorities for rising prices, showed electricity bills. In response, von der Leyen recommended sending them to Russia.
“I would advise Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen to send all these bills to those politicians who made the decision to switch to spot prices, to refuse long-term contracts with our companies, to refuse Russian gas, energy resources,” Novak said in an interview. Naila Askerzade on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
According to him, the root cause of the rise in prices for energy resources was the decision of the EU authorities, adopted “at the behest, most likely, of their overseas partners.” Therefore, such statements cause only surprise, the vice-premier noted.
