The new NVIDIA drivers hide three ‘new’ GeForce RTX 3000 coming soon

The configuration of the new cards is not clear in detail, but the appearance of three new IDs linked to the RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060 models suggests that this is nothing more than the RTX 3070 Ti based on GA102 GPU, the RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X memory and the RTX 3060 with 8 GB of memory.

In the case of the RTX 3070 Ti there are more confirmations, because the ID 2207 indicates that it is a GA102 GPU based product. The card in question, so far, has always been marketed with GA104 GPU and consequently the GA102 will be largely castrated to get down to the configuration of that model, or 6144 CUDA active cores and 256-bit bus for connecting to 8 GB of GDDR6X memory.

The other two cards will continue to use the same GPU, GA104 in the case of the RTX 3060 Ti and GA106 in that of the RTX 3060, as confirmed by the IDs. The change will therefore affect the memory, with the first adopting GDDR6X chips while the second will have 4 GB of memory less than the current model.

A silent update, which will allow NVIDIA and partners of the get rid of the surplus of GPUs and memories. The RTX 3060 with 8 GB, logically, should be placed in a lower price range than the 12 GB model: it could therefore be the only one of the three “new” solutions interesting to test, net of details that we do not yet know . Starting in the next few weeks, these variants will start circulating, so we will certainly know more.
