Roskomnadzor explained why it restricted access to the SoundCloud service

MOSCOW, 2 Oct — PRIME. Roskomnadzor has restricted access to the SoundCloud music service in connection with the placement of false information about a special military operation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the department.

On Saturday, Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, restricted access to the SoundCloud music service website page.

“At the request of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the SoundCloud service in connection with the placement of materials containing false information regarding the nature of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, its form, methods of warfare (attacks on civilians, strikes on civilian infrastructure), about numerous civilian casualties at the hands of Russian soldiers,” the ministry said.

It is noted that access to the service was limited on the territory of the Russian Federation due to the failure to remove illegal materials. If prohibited information is deleted, the resource will be unlocked, the department added.

“Such fake information, in accordance with the law, is subject to immediate blocking. At the same time, Roskomnadzor twice sent requests to the owner of the resource to remove prohibited information,” the press service of Roskomnadzor specified.
