Russia has reduced gas production in eight months, increased LNG production

MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. Gas production in Russia in January-August decreased by 10.4%, to 389 billion cubic meters, in August – by 22.4%, to 38.5 billion cubic meters, Rosstat reports.

“38.5 billion cubic meters of combustible natural gas (natural gas) were produced, which is 22.4% less than in August 2021, but 5.4% more than in July 2022. In eight months of 2022, 389 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is 10.4% less than in January-August 2021,” the ministry said.

Production of associated petroleum gas (APG) in Russia increased by 1.9% in January-August to 66.6 billion cubic meters. At the same time, in August, the indicator decreased by 7% in annual terms, and increased by 0.9% in monthly terms.

According to Rosstat, in 2021 Russia increased natural gas production by 10.6%, to 662 billion cubic meters, and APG by 5.8%, to 101 billion cubic meters, but reduced the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 1.1 % – up to 30.1 million tons.

LNG PRODUCTION

The volume of production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Russia in January-August 2022 increased by 13.5% compared to the same period last year, up to 21.6 million tons, in August the growth was 2.9% compared to July, up to 2.4 million tons, according to Rosstat.

“Liquefied natural gas … produced 2.4 million tons, which is 59.2% and 2.9% more than in August 2021 and July 2022, respectively. LNG production for the eight months of 2022 amounted to 21.6 million tons, which is 13.5% more than in the same period of 2021,” the report says.

According to Rosstat, LNG production in Russia in 2021 amounted to 30.1 million tons, and in 2020 the figure was 1.1% higher – 30.5 million tons.
