MOSCOW, 14 Oct – PRIME. Russia is ready to assist in the restoration of the unified energy system of Central Asia, said President Vladimir Putin.
Putin called on Central Asian countries to join import substitution
He announced this during the first-ever Russia-Central Asia summit, which took place on Friday in Astana.
“Our country is ready to provide practical assistance in restoring the unified energy system of Central Asia, which will certainly increase the energy security of all countries in the region,” the president said.
Putin stressed that Russia’s interaction with the countries of this region is strengthening, as evidenced by the construction of new nuclear power plants and the introduction of digitalization. The Russian leader also noted that Moscow is actively investing in the economies of the Central Asian countries and has already invested about $5 billion in direct investment.
As promising areas of cooperation, Putin named the expansion of the geography of oil supplies, the joint development of raw materials in the Caspian Sea, the construction and expansion of pipelines, and the increase in coal trade.
