s graphics architecture Navi gets specially adapted circuits for AI

The past year has been marked by several launches from AMD, with both a new processor family in the form of Ryzen and upcoming graphics cards in the Vega family. The company has previously announced that Vega will be followed up by the graphics architecture Navi, which is expected to be launched in 2018.

Very little is known about Navi yet, but according to new information from Fudzilla, it comes with circuits adapted for AI, among other things. According to the information, this was intended to be implemented already with Vega, but this was postponed to the future due to lack of time and resources.

This means that AMD could then compete with Nvidia, whose Tesla Volta V100 is equipped with Tensor cores optimized for, among other things, machine learning and AI.

AMD Navi is expected to appear sometime in 2018, but no further details are currently known. However, the company has announced that it will be scalable and will be equipped with a new generation of memory technology, where it is said that the memory circuits will instead be stacked directly on top of the graphics circuit.
