Swedish retailers receive slightly fewer Geforce RTX 3090 than RTX 3080

The launch of the Geforce RTX 3000 series has been messy. In an attempt to map approximately how many cards may have found their way into Sweden, SweClockers has called around to some large Swedish retailers. Prior to the launch, some of the SweClockers resellers spoke positively and talked about hundreds of incoming cards for the launch. When the dust settles and the launch of the RTX 3080 is past us, there is a slightly different tone in the bark.

A dealer we spoke to who wants to remain anonymous answers that they received just over 50 Geforce RTX 3080 before the launch and that they received shortly under 50 Geforce RTX 3090 before the start of sales this Thursday. Another player mentions about a hundred RTX 3090s, which in turn is said to be “slightly fewer” than the number of RTX 3080s that the same retailer had at its launch.

I guess these are around 600 to 800 Geforce RTX 3080s that were available at the time of launch in Sweden. According to our estimates, the Geforce RTX 3090 appears to land on about 400 to 500 pieces. In terms of demand, one of the retailers testifies to several thousand orders, but a few dozen have delivered cards so far.

Of course, such a distribution does not reflect the sales forecasts for each graphics circuit, instead there are other factors behind the distribution. Purely speculatively, it may be that the larger circle is more profitable or that it is important from a marketing perspective.
