Nvidia G-Sync in more screens only Q3 2014

At a press conference in Montreal, Nvidia presented the new synchronization technology G-Sync. The idea is that the graphics processor should control the screen’s refresh rate to reduce the delay times and at the same time eliminate so-called tearing. This is said to provide a more compliant experience than today v-sync.

The investment in G-Sync begins with the Asus VG248QE screen. In addition, Nvidia will sell special circuit boards, which the user can mount inside the monitor. The plug-in card is estimated to cost 175 dollars, but in the first quarter of next year, the screen will also be available with integrated G-Sync for about 100 dollars more than the standard variant.

Nvidia now tells SweClockers that other partners, ie Benq, Philips and Viewsonic, will not have their own products with G-Sync on the market until the third or fourth quarter of 2014. The reason for this is an exclusivity agreement with Asus, which assisted in the development of technology.

Support for G-Sync will initially be seen in gaming-oriented screens with 120 or 144 Hz refresh rate. Nvidia’s hope, however, is that more models will be equipped with the technology, including new screens with 4K resolution.
