In Spain, the operator Telefonica has concluded an agreement with scientific and technological research centers. Some knots Hyperledger will be deployed and a private blockchain network created allowing companies to design decentralized applications.
The universe of blockchain also interests telecom operators. This is for example the case of the first Spanish operator, Telefonica. The latter has just concluded an agreement in the country with the APT.
The association brings together 64 research centers and hosts just over 8,000 organizations linked to the scientific and technological world. The latter will soon be able to explore the uses of blockchain.
Experiments around digital tokens
Through the partnership signed with Telefonica, a private blockchain network will be deployed. Based on Hyperledger technology, it will be implemented by the operator. 52 APTE sites will thus host a node of this blockchain network.
Telefonica In addition, it will launch a three-month pilot project with companies and research organizations gathered at the centers of the Spanish scientific association. This aims to enable them to create and deploy decentralized applications – without the costs inherent in setting up a blockchain architecture.
In particular, users will be able to experiment with their own tokens thanks to this permissible blockchain network. The operator specifies that these developments will exploit its hosted cloud platform, Cloud garden, designed in partnership with IBM.
“The companies installed in these science and technology centers will be able to benefit from the advantages of blockchain technology without having to face its inherent complexity, nor to devote resources to acquire the knowledge necessary to make the best of it,” underlines María Jesús Almazor , CEO of Telefonica.
