Hi all !

After the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 I am going to introduce you to its big brother, the Dark Rock Pro 3!
The Dark Rock 3 is already a very good cooler, its big brother has a lot to do but the pro version has some advantages up its sleeve such as the presence of 2 fans and the “Dual Tower” format which make it a huge and rather heavy cooler. (almost 1.2 kg anyway!), how does it behave? We will see that!

The box takes the design of the brand, with a dominant black color, the effect is rather classy and sober at the same time.
The main goal of the brand is clearly highlighted here, performance and silence, whatever we want in the end! The Dark Rock Pro 3 is capable of dissipating 250Watts, which is huge and shouldn’t limit everyone’s overclocking.

The cooler is well protected, surrounded by foam transport should not be a problem!

be_quiet_dark_rock_pro_3_bundle

The bundle is made up of:

  • A universal fixing plate
  • 1 kit de fixation AMD 754 / 939 / 940 / AM2(+) / AM3 (+) / FM1 / FM2 (+)
  • 1 kit de fixation Intel LGA 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011
  • 1 tube of thermal paste
  • The necessary screws
  • 2 clips for a third fan
  • 1 clef plate
  • 1 manuel

The bundle is sufficient but I would not have been against adding an extension for the fan, or a Y cable if the cooler is mounted with 3 fans (it is however available free of charge on request from the after-sales service), or even adapters to lower the voltage received by the fan in order to reduce noise pollution. Note that the 2 fans included are already connected on the same cable thanks to an additional connector on the 120mm, like this:

Here is the beast from the front, unlike the Dark Rock 3 the pro version has a 120mm fan on the front instead of the 135mm, indeed the depth is such that there would be no room for memory with a fan bigger.

be_quiet_dark_rock_pro_3_profile

In profile we can see that the Dark Rock Pro 3 is huge, like the NH-D14 from Noctua. The middle fan is the Silentwings 135mm (the same as on the Dark Rock 3). Each fan is based on 2 anti-vibration bands which will eliminate the noise potential generated even if the fans are quiet! are not (generally) prone to this problem.

Here is the back side, each of the 45 fins is filled with small bumps to break the airflow.

The top of the radiator is a black brushed aluminum plate with the most beautiful effect accompanied by black caps covering the heat pipes, as much to say that it looks very good!

be_quiet_dark_rock_pro_3_base_dentelee

The base, like the Dark Rock 3, is topped with fins to help with heat dissipation a bit more, the fins are smaller than on the Dark Rock 3 to accommodate the 135mm fan.

The base has a mirror effect.

be_quiet_dark_rock_pro_3_silentwings_120

The 120mm fan is a SilentWings model running at a maximum of 1700 RPM with a 4-pin (PWM) connection.

The 134mm fan is a SilentWings running at a maximum of 1400 RPM with a 4-pin (PWM) connection.
