The Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 is therefore a case compatible with motherboards ranging from mini-ITX to standard ATX format made of steel and plastic. As we can see the case is not the lightest, with 10.7 kg it is not part of the light weight and this is easily explained by seeing its dimensions, 51.2 cm in length for 54.8 cm in height and 23.5 cm in width, the MasterCase Pro 5 will not go unnoticed!
Thanks to these generous dimensions the compatibility with the different components is therefore very wide, the graphics card can go up to 29.6 cm when the hard drive cage is installed while 41.2 cm will be available without it, enough to see coming. The CPU cooler can go up to 19 cm high, which ensures compatibility with all products on the market.
On the storage side, Cooler Master gives the possibility of installing up to 5 peripherals in 3.5 ″ format (2.5 ″ compatible), 2 2.5 ″ peripherals as well as 2 readers / writers in 5.25 ″ format, enough to accommodate the vast majority of configurations of the market. It should also be noted that it is possible to install more 3.5 ″ cages by purchasing them separately, a strong point widely put forward by the brand.
Ventilation is provided by 2 fans of 14 cm at the front and 1 of 14 cm at the rear, to which it is possible to add another fan at the front (of 12 or 14 cm) as well as 2 fans 12/14 cm above. In addition to this it is of course possible to install water-cooling radiators, 280mm at the front, 240mm above and 140mm at the rear, a custom water-cooling is therefore perfectly possible.
Where Cooler Master wants to hit hard with his MasterCase Pro 5 is on the other hand the modular aspect, the hard drive cages are removable and can be installed higher or lower in the tower (or removed), the top part is removable for easily install components, the plate accommodating the fans above is also removable, the power supply has the right to foam to avoid vibrations etc. There is no doubt that everyone will find what they are looking for.
Offered at a price of 159 € including VAT, the MasterCase Pro 5 has some weighty arguments on paper, let’s see what this gives in practice!

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_boite2
Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_boite1

The box containing the case is imposing and heavy, there are some photos of the product on the front side, the name of the model of course as well as the strong point of the product, its modularity! At the back a little spiel on the why and how the MasterCase Pro 5 allows total control of the interior.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_boite3

On the side a complete table of technical characteristics, a minimum 🙂

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_boite4

Inside the box we find the box very well packed in its bag sandwiched between 2 very large foams, the transport should be smooth, as long as nobody jumps on the map of course (and again!).

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_bundle

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 x MasterCase Pro 5 box
  • 1 x Manuel
  • 1 x plate for installing the third fan on the front
  • 2 x cable ties with double-sided adhesive tape
  • A handful of plastic cable ties
  • 3 x 3-pin fan adapters -> molex
  • The necessary screws

As we can see the MasterCase Pro 5 bundle is well supplied, everything is there to allow a problem-free installation, whether it is at the level of the storage of the cables or the connection of the fans, since there is no no rheobus they can be connected directly to the power supply (in 12V on the other hand).

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5

Here is the beast! As we can see the case is massive and rather sober. When handling, everything seems very solid and the build quality is excellent, nothing sticks out and no worries about holding it up over time. The front as well as the top are made of plastic, a bit of a shame but it is of quality. Let’s take a closer look at all of this.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_facade1

The front facade is very sober, a large grille that acts as a dust filter with the brand’s logo in its center. You can see the 2 5.25 ″ slots at the top, which tends to be rare on boxes these days, not without reason given the increasingly reduced usefulness of this type of peripheral.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_facade2

Once the grille has been removed we come across the fans installed as standard, 2 14 cm models rotating at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM given for a maximum sound level of 24 dB, they should therefore be logically rather quiet.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_dessus_connectique

The front connector is made up of 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as the eternal 3.5mm jack ports for a microphone and a headset, it is still a shame not to have 4 USB ports, especially when you see the space available.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_dessus1

Above, a large grid (always removable) is present in order to let out the air from the fans (optional) which will be placed here. Everything here is also plastic (apart from the metal grille), just push the grille back to remove the cover that will give access to the interior.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_dessus2
Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_dessus3

Once the cover is removed, we fall on the location of the fans, they will be able to evacuate the air very easily without hindrance thanks to the absence of a grid. It is possible to remove the location that accommodates the fans with 4 hand screws, it will then be possible to install everything quietly outside the box and replace it very easily.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_dessous

Below, a removable dust filter is present in front of the power supply, the box is raised from the ground thanks to 2 large feet themselves equipped with rubber pads which will act as insulation against any vibrations.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_arriere

Behind one thing is for sure, Cooler Master wants the beast to breathe! Vents are present everywhere where it is possible to put them, whether it is the openwork extension brackets, a honeycomb grid next to them as well as of course the grid that hides the 14 cm fan. The power supply has a little special treatment with a removable plate fixed with 4 hand screws, you just have to remove it, install the power supply and put everything back in place.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_cote1
Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_exterieur_cote2

The part that overlooks the motherboard has a large window that will expose the components of the beast, some will love! The side panels are quite thick metal and do not bend when panipulating, a shame not having foam on the back side of the motherboard that said, it could have helped to dampen vibrations.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur

Here is the interior of the beast! The MasterCase Pro 5 is split into 2 parts, the bottom part will be responsible for accommodating the 3.5 ″ 2 disc power supply while the top accommodates the bulk of the configuration. The interior is clearly spacious, and it is clear that installing massive components shouldn’t be a problem. Let’s take a closer look at all of this.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_525_1

The installation of 5.25 ″ peripherals is done without tools, just insert the reader / writer and start everything, nothing could be simpler! The interesting part here is that it is possible to remove this part to place a 3.5 ″ / 2.5 ″ hard drive cage, or simply remove it if it becomes unnecessary.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_525_2

To do this, simply remove 2 thumbscrews on the side and 2 others at the back, we can then completely remove this part.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_cage_hdd1

The 3.5 ″ peripheral cage can accommodate up to 3, all of which are installed in carts equipped with rubber pads to cushion the fibers. Once again Cooler Master in a concern of modularity allows to remove the latter to place it wherever we want.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_cage_hdd2
Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_cage_hdd3

Thanks to the hand screw, it is enough to unscrew them and place them higher or lower, according to the needs / desires.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_cage_hdd4

Here is an example of placement, at the very bottom of the upper part which will allow the installation of a graphics card up to 41.2 cm in length.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_alimentation

The power supply will rest on rails equipped with anti-vibration foam, in order to provide maximum cushioning.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_cage_hdd6

The second peripheral cage is at the bottom, a total of 2 peripherals can be installed, it is also removable like its big sister above. In addition to being able to remove it, it is also possible to move it away from the front panel if necessary (if a water-cooling radiator is installed for example) thanks to the presence of several threads on the bottom of the case.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_SSD

Finally on the storage 2 locations are available between the 2 compartments.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_passe_cables_above_below

In addition to the rubber grommets between the front and the back of the motherboard Cooler Master has also added 2 between the lower and upper part of the case.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_equerres_extensions

The extension brackets are all perforated and fixed by hand screws, the build quality is very good here. We note a square which is not like the others, I still have not found the usefulness of the thing.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_dessus

Above you can see the ventilation grid of the beast, the installation of the fans will be easy.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_ventilateur_arriere

The rear fan is the same 14cm model spinning at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM as the front ones.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_connectique

The connection is made via black cables of very good quality and which will not alter the look of the beast once installed.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_interieur_derriere_carte_mere

Everything at the rear is very spacious here like what we find at the front. In addition to the rubber grommets, Cooler Master has added hook-and-loop fasteners to help organize the cables. There will be no hassle to cram all the various cables thanks to the 2.5 cm of space between the back plate of the motherboard and the side panel.

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather large configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 will be tested once with the fans at minimum and once at the maximum with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place at least with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations that will allow to see the effectiveness of the silentblocs.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_monte

Thanks to the space available, mounting in the box was particularly easy. Indeed there is no problem to pass the hands above the cooler to connect the 4 + 4-pin processor, there is no particular effort to be made at the back of the motherboard for the cables because there is more than enough space, the rubber grommets are wide enough to pass all the cables you want etc.
There is really nothing to say about the ease of mounting in the big beast, even with large components, the only small thing I could fault is the length of the fan cables, in fact they are very short and if a rheobus is installed on the front it will be necessary to have at least one extension for the rear fan.

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.
Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above.

The Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 will face the case used for the silent pc backrest, the Corsair Carbide 300R modified for the needs of the same backrest as well as the be quiet! Silent base 800, Cooler Master Silencio 652S, the Fractal Design Define R5, the Aerocool DS200, the NZXT H440 as well as its big brother the Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 rev. B. The choice of boxes is not random, all these boxes are rather quiet and spacious.

Repos

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_results_repos_temperatures

The temperatures of the components inside the MasterCase Pro 5 are very good at rest, no wonder seeing the space available and the 3 14cm fans which are only slightly obstructed. By switching the fans from 5V to 12V we only gain a few small degrees on the different components, which is quite normal given the little heat released, it will be necessary to see once the beast is in charge!

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_resultats_repos_level_sonore

Ambient sound level: 31dB

With the fans set to minimum (and therefore 5V) and without the raptor hard drive, the sound level is very good with the MasterCase Pro 5, displaying a maximum of 34 dB at the rear, which almost allows it to titillate the tenors of the kind. Once the hard drive is plugged in all the readings go up by about a dB, it may not seem like much but to the ear the difference is obvious because of the vibrations generated by the Raptor (which is hell for boxes, very few are spared), it will therefore be necessary to pay attention to the type of hard disk installed.
Once the fans are at maximum on the other hand, the sound level soars to reach a maximum of 43 dB at the rear, the box is then clearly not silent even if I have seen worse, it will therefore be necessary to pay attention to regulate the fans supplied with the box, a pity not to have an integrated rheobus.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_results_repos_PWM

Nothing to report here, as the vast majority of cases in the test, the fans remain at their base RPM, ie 600 RPM for the processor and 500 RPM for the graphics card.

Charge

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_resultats_charge_temperatures

In charge, the good results continue, whether in 5V or 12V, we are here at the level of the best boxes of the comparison. With 68 ° for the graphics card, 66 ° for the processor and 41 ° for the motherboard in 5V against respectively 64 °, 62 ° and 39 ° in 12V, there is absolutely no problem to be made on the duration of component life at such temperatures.
We can say that with the space available as well as the fans delivered as standard, it will be possible to install a large configuration without fear for the components.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_resultats_charge_level_sonore

Ambient sound level: 31dB

With the fans at maximum there is no change in sound level compared to the readings at rest, i.e. a maximum of 43 dB at the rear. With the 5V fans and without the hard drive, the maximum reading is 37 dB at the rear, which is excellent and the box can therefore easily accommodate silent components. Once the hard disk is installed and the vibrations which result from it, the maximum reading is 39 dB, always at the rear.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_resultats_charge_PWM

Once again the available space and the air flow of the 3 fans do a very good job, this is reflected in the speed of rotation of the component fans. In 5V the fans of the graphics card run at 640 RPM and those of the processor at 880 RPM while in 12V we drop to 600 RPM and 800 RPM respectively.

Cooler_Master_Mastercase_Pro_5_random

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5?
Cooler Master signs here a case which of excellent manufacturing quality, made of quality materials and a high-end finish. The performance is very good, thanks to the internal space available as well as to the 3 14 cm fans delivered as standard. It is possible to install a configuration equipped with large components without the slightest problem, both in terms of mounting and cooling.
In addition to that, as I said at the beginning, modularity is an undeniable asset for those who want to think outside the box by installing more hard disks, or even a custom water-cooling system, the buyer is free to modulate the MasterCase Pro 5 as it sees fit.
The only small weak points that I could find in the box of today are on the one hand the absence of rheobus which would not have been a bad thing as well as the presence of only 2 USB ports (the place in front allows largely place 4) and on the other hand the transmission of the vibrations of the hard disks (the WD Raptor being a hell at this level), it will therefore be necessary to pay attention to the chosen mechanical hard disk.
Offered at a price of around 159 € the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 is an excellent box, the requested price is not prohibitive when you know the services offered, a good companion for a gamer config even if it has some small flaws.
