Test – Noctua Industrial PPC 24V
| Specs | Price
Hi all !
After an excellent series of Industrial PPC fans specially designed to be installed in industrial environments (which may be subject to exposure to water, dust etc.), these gentlemen from Noctua put the cover back with a variant in 24V! Although PC fans are powered between 5V (in general) and 12V some industrial equipment requires 24V, Noctua therefore wants to place itself in this segment with the fans in today’s test, however they also operate at 12V at a lower price. of the maximum speed (1100 RPM in 12V for the 2000 RPM and 1700 RPM for the 3000 RPM). The program includes 12 cm (the NF-F12) and 14 cm (the NF-A14) declined in 2 speeds, 2000 RPM and 3000 RPM. Harsh environment requires Noctua has endowed its 24V series with IP67 certification on all models, so they are fully protected against dust and against the effects of immersion (up to 1 m).
Offered at a price of 29.90 € incl. VAT, we are of course in a higher price range than the “classic” fans for desktop PCs, but are not really designed for the same type of use.

The slowest of the range still turn with a speed of 2000 RPM, which is already higher than any other fan from Noctua, in fact Noctua seeking silence it is not possible to have a product. silent at 2000 RPM. In an industrial environment, on the other hand, it is not really necessary to buy silent fans but on the contrary you need performance, so it is with this in mind that the IndustrialPPC range was born and as the technical characteristics suggest. foresee that will certainly be the case! They are all IP67 certified and will logically prove themselves dust and splash proof (and even water submersion).
As I said above the speed of rotation goes up to 2000 RPM and 3000 RPM in 24V but in a desktop PC they will only turn at 1100 RPM and 1700 RPM respectively.
The 6-year warranty coupled with an MTBF of 150,000 hours like the entire Noctua range promises good performance of the fans over time.
The box is smaller than usual but remains in the spirit of the brand, that is to say sober and classy. At the back we find a sticker with the main characteristics of the fan.
Once the box is open we find the fan surrounded by cardboard to protect a minimum of the product during transport.
The bundle comes down to only 4 screws, gentlemen manufacturers are not entitled to frills!
The NF-F12 are therefore 12 cm fans, they are in all points identical with the “classic” NF-F12s (tested here) of the brand on the exterior, apart of course for the color! Really very high-end finish, the fan is very robust, the plastic of excellent quality, SSO2 bearing motor which has been widely proven and of course the improvements allowing to “optimize” the air flow (AAO frame, Stepped Inlet etc.).
The 14 cm are like the 12 cm model copies of other models of the mark, namely the NF-A14 (tested here), always in black of course! The build quality is once again top of the range, both in terms of materials and finish.
The Noctua fans have been tested on the Prolimatech Megalahems radiator on the configuration below:
- Processor: Intel Core i7 875K @ 3,2 Ghz
- Ventirad: Prolimatech Megahalems
- Motherboard: Asus P7P55D
- Memory: Kingston HyperX 4 x 2 Go 1600Mhz
- Hard disk: WD Raptor 150 Go
- Graphic card: Sapphire Toxic 5850
- Food: Seasonic X650
The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desktop (still an average of the 4 cores).
For information, and as the fans turn at maximum supplied with 24V, the speed is lowered in 12V and 5V, so here is the summary of the RPMs reached during the tests:
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-F12 3000 24V @ 5V: 410 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-F12 3000 24V @ 12V: 1650 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-F12 2000 24V @ 5V: 260 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-F12 2000 24V @ 12V: 1050 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-A14 3000 24V @ 5V: 450 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-A14 3000 24V @ 12V: 1700 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-A14 2000 24V @ 5V: 270 RPM
- Noctua Industrial PPC NF-A14 2000 24V @ 12V: 1050 RPM
As we can see the rotation speed is much lower once in a desktop PC, between 400 and 1700 RPM for the 3000 RPM models and between 250 and 1100 RPM for the 2000 RPM models, so they should be rather quiet in 12V (except at 1700 RPM of course) and really inaudible at 5V, at least in theory 😉
The performance of the fans is very good, the processor is very well cooled even if they still have a little trouble in 5V (I remind you that they run between 260 and 470 RPM) with temperatures a little high (72 ° at 79 °), even if this remains largely acceptable and nothing that can affect the life of the processor. Once in 12V, the models running at 1600-1700 RPM (3000 RPM in 24V) of course pull out of the game by simply placing themselves in the first place, nothing surprising that said knowing that none of the fans in the comparison does not spin at this speed.
The Industrial PPC 24V behaves like “classic” fans here, the fact that they operate at a voltage much lower than their nominal voltage does not bother them at all, they run as if nothing happened!
Ambient sound level: 31dB
Regarding noise pollution it is also excellent, the 2000 RPM models powered by 12V and with 1050 – 1100 RPM are really pleasant and go up to a maximum of 38 dB, which is not inaudible but really very tolerable ( this will make much less noise than a graphics card for example), in 5V on the other hand silence is clearly required (logic with less than 300 RPM).
The 2 3000 RPM models supplied with 12V (and therefore around 1700 RPM) are of course clearly more noisy with 46 dB for the NF-F12 and 49 dB for the NF-A14, they blow a lot and will not necessarily be pleasant in a PC especially if it has to be silent, despite everything only the breath of air can be heard and the engines behave perfectly as usual with Noctua. Once in 5V and with around 400 RPM they are also almost inaudible, they will find their place perfectly in any configuration.
Whether for the 12 or 14 cm models, 2000 or 3000 RPM no noise other than the sound of the air flow is heard, no clicking, noise, nothing!
Since the Noctua Industrial PPC 24V fans are all compatible with the IP67 standard it is possible to immerse them in water, so here is a video that I had already made for the Industrial PPCs tested previously:
Not much to say, the fan works perfectly after being totally submerged and does not suffer from any after-effects, if you install your fan in a PC equipped with a water-cooling system and it starts to leak this little Noctua will continue its operation. work as if nothing had happened and will throw water all over your tower 😀
Here we are at the end of this test, what about the Noctua Industrial PPC 24V?
After the “classic” 12V Industrial PPCs tested here Noctua returns with models that operate at 24V, for machines that need fans operating at this voltage, all are equipped with IP67 certification guaranteeing operation in extreme conditions. Despite their nominal voltage of 24V they work very well in a desktop PC capable of supplying them with 12V, the only consequence is the drop in RPMs falling to 1050 RPM for the 2000 RPM models and 1700 RPM for the 3000 RPM models. Once in a desktop PC they turn into excellent fans to do everything, competing without the slightest problem with their colleagues, the 2000 RPMs are inaudible at 5V and very discreet at 12V, the 3000 RPMs are very quiet at 5V but on the other hand are clearly heard in 12V, there is something for everyone.
The build quality is just great, the fans are tough and feel like they’re made to last, nothing unlike the products you usually find at Noctua.
Offered at a price of € 29.90 they are on the other hand clearly more expensive than their brothers studied for desktop PCs, but fear neither dust nor water which could be an asset for those looking for fans who fear nothing !
