The City Transformer CT1 electric microcar is able to change the track of its wheels

How about a modest, but two-seater BEV that can do a trick with the track? City Transformer CT1 this is what it is, and as an electric microcar, it provides the ideal form of transport in urban environments, making parking and turning easy.

The City Transformer CT1 is a transformable electric microcar

The City Transformer is small and if you know the Renault Twizy model, you probably already know exactly what it means. The dimensions of both of these electric powered microcars are similar, as the work of the Israeli company City Transformer measures 250 cm in length, 158 cm in height and 100 cm in width (excluding the side mirrors) in the basic “City” mode. However, its chassis can be extended while driving in the “performance” mode, increasing the track and accompanying fenders to 140 centimeters.

The choice is therefore on the driver’s side whether he or she needs higher stability or maneuverability, which is more characteristic of a two-wheeler. All this so that (according to estimates) CT1 drivers can find a parking space 10 times easier in a crowded city street. All this while maintaining the full capabilities of the car, which includes a modest trunk, wing doors straight from supercars, disc brakes with an anti-lock system and, of course, the driveline.

The CT1 is powered by two 10hp engines (one for each rear wheel), which accelerates it to 90 km / h in ‘extended wheel’ mode and 40 km / h with the wheelbase pulled down. Its battery that recharges up to 80 percent in half an hour provides a range of 120 to 180 km, depending on conditions and driving style.

At the moment, the City Transformer CT1 comes down to a version for two adults sitting “one behind the other” in an air-conditioned cabin, but the company is already planning a version for an adult driver and two children. We know that small-series production will start in 2022 after obtaining approval (L7e), and then the company will start a mass production to deliver the first models to private owners in 2024. However, pre-orders can already be placed at a reduced price of EUR 12,500 from 16,000 euros.
