The expert called clear signs that your smartphone has been hacked

MOSCOW, Sep 27 – PRIME. Any electronic device, be it a personal computer or a smartphone, can be hacked. Hacking refers primarily to the “infection” of a gadget with malicious software that provides fraudsters with access to the device. You can become a victim of cybercriminals by clicking on a certain link, going to a website, or downloading a fake mobile app. Shamil Magomedov, head of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems of the Institute of Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies of the RTU MIREA, tells the Prime agency about this.

As the expert emphasizes, not all malicious programs send “clear signals” about their penetration into the gadget. Often, the work of malware that has made its way into a smartphone does not require increased computing power. That is, the phone can work in standard mode without signs of slowing down processes.

“An alarm signal is the incorrect operation of familiar applications: they can open and close on their own, give errors in their work. Sometimes there is also an excessive “independence” of the gadget. For example, it makes calls to contacts from your phone book, sends messages, and so on,” — the expert explains.

Also pay attention to the consumption of mobile traffic, which can be done in the personal account of your telecom operator. “If you don’t watch long videos, and the statistics show bursts in the use of Internet data, this is a reason to be wary,” Magomedov assures.

In addition, in the smartphone settings, you can see the details of the traffic consumption of each application.

Also in modern versions of mobile operating systems, it is possible to track application requests for access to location, phone book, SMS, contacts and check with your actions. According to the expert, this is how malware can be detected.

If you suspect that your smartphone is infected with malware, then run any antivirus program. Usually this is enough to find and neutralize a hacker attack. If the case is more serious – contact the service. The expert strongly does not recommend delaying this or trying to figure out the reasons on your own. “So you increase the chances of fraudsters getting to your personal information, including your personal account in an online bank,” he warns.
